Inordinate - Part 14
The day was nearly over, and Yaga was still asleep or at least they thought he was sleeping because he was breathing.
Wayo had gone haywire.
He positioned himself permanently beside Yaga's bed, watching his every move like a hawk. His cousin had been knocked out for about 17 hours and 30 minutes.
Wayo yawned, remembering that the last time he had eaten, Yaga had been awake. He called Tele to find out what he was doing about the mess.
“Omo, I go chop for my babe house.” Tele responded.
Blood rushed to Wayo's head, and he swore harshly, then ended the call. Am I the only one taking this seriously? He needed this to be over as soon as possible.
The girl had been holed up in Yaga's room all day, alternating between praying and crying. Wayo didn't know what to do with her.
On one hand, he wanted the money, because Yaga needed it for his mothers treatment and this was the fastest means he knew. On the other hand, the girl had seen their faces and even knew his full government name, posing a huge problem. At this point, God might even tell her about Tele and Yaga. He needed to silence her.
Tele had done it before, and he wouldn't have any trouble doing it again. Wayo knew that if he gave the word, Tele would silence her and get away with it.
When Tele came back he brought some food for Wayo, but he rejected it.
“Are you fasting or something?”
Wayo hissed, “Give the food to the girl.”
“Eh? Why?” Confusion was written all over his face
“Just give her. Don’t ask me stupid questions.”
“Baba you dey fall my hand oh, do you also like her?” Tele shook his head slowly, wondering what had come over Wayo. If there was anyone who hated disorder, it was Wayo. When he set a plan, he needed it to be followed to the letter. He was always pristine and put together, not a single hair out of place, yet here he was wearing the same rumpled clothes since the night before and looking greatly disheveled.
Wayo glared daggers at him, so he swallowed his observations.
The girl looked even worse than Wayo, with her long hair matted in some places. He wondered why she hadn't realised there was a bathroom in the room where she stayed. He dropped the food on the floor as a soon as he entered, then pulled a chair.
“I have been told to feed you. I don't understand why.”
Nora woke up to the screeching sound of a chair being dragged across the tiled floors. Her first instinct was to reach for whatever was closest to her and hurl it at Tele’s head. But the closest thing happened to be a pillow so she held back- not enough impact.
Nora’s POV
He was wearing the mask this time, but I knew who he was.
The wicked one dropped something on the floor and took a seat in front of it. It was porridge beans in a disposable plate.
I think the last time I ate was Yesterday afternoon when I was at work. I can’t believe I have only been here since yesterday night. With the amount of hours I have spent moping, it feels like longer.
Do kidnappers feed their victims?
If any of the other two guys had brought me food, I would have had a higher chance of eating it. This man is the worst of the three, he looks at me like I am gum stuck under his shoes.
I remained where I sat on the floor.
“Oya come here” he called. I immediately stood up because the last time he hit me my vision faded for some minutes. I don't want him to touch me again.
I saw the moment he paused and changed his expression to a sinister smile. Red flag.
Why is he smiling at me? Even the one with the kind eyes had never smiled at me.
“Go back” he indicated that I return to where I had been sitting, “Crawl.”
Eh?
I stood dumbfounded.
“I said go back and crawl.” he repeated, “You don't understand English anymore?”
What is happening right now? What is he trying to do? I don’t like that look in his eyes.
“Small money that we asked your brother for, he cannot provide. He is playing with your life.” the man said, then reached for his pocket and fetched a phone- my phone “In fact, comot that gown sef, let me show your brother something.”
“I don't understand sir” I lied. I knew exactly where this was going.
“If I stand up from here you will hate yourself.” He threatened, in a calm voice, very different from his normal aggressive tone. He chuckled. “Let me be clear, since your brain is glitching. Take off your dress and crawl towards me.”
He had the phone up, and I knew he was recording this. Is he going to send this to brother Shima?
I choose selective obedience and begin to crawl, scraping my knees against the floors.
Not enough
He allowed me to crawl to him, then in one swift move, he wacked the side of my head with his leg. I fell sideways in pain. What kind of man hits a woman like this?
“I go wound you oh. Comot that cloth.”
“No” I replied
He had a glint in his eyes, “Sleeping beauty likes you, so I'm respecting that for now. If I had my way, I would put that loudmouth of yours to work. Don't test my patience.” something materialized in his other hand.
The gun.
He pointed it at me, “Let’s get serious. Your brother should be motivated when he sees this”
God please, this cannot be my fate.
I reached for the zipper at the back of the dress
“You need some help?” he had the guts to ask. Shameless pig.
I shook my head. I tried to be as sluggish as possible, hoping someone would barge in and save me however, when my eyes met his, he seemed to be enjoying the slow disrobing so with my heart at the bottom of my stomach I yanked the dress off, refusing to entertain him.
